Rodarte for Target Reviews!!!

Ok my lovies! What we've all been waiting for (err, at least me). Rodarte for Target!
(DISCLAIMER: these are my opinions, and may not reflect yours. I apologize if you don't like my reviews or find them erroneous. I'll try and be as unbiased as I can when needed!)

A few words:
1. Unfortunately, the quality is not very good. In my opinion, Anna Sui was much better. However, it's not so bad that one should write it off (especially considering the prices here)-- just be warned. :)
2. Almost every button was impossible to unbutton. I actually read this review on other blogs, too... and it's true. I would need someone to help me get these dresses on.
3. Fit seemed TTS on most items, unless I note.
4. I apologize for the poor selection of items. My Target was not as stocked as I thought.
5. No accessories at my store. Boo. So I won't review those. But you better believe I'm buying the bow belts, yessireee.
6. Static cling was a MAJOR issue on all satiny, tulley items.

Here we go!

First up is my favorite. You'll remember it's black counterpart, which I refrained from trying in exchange for this. How pretty are the flowers? The fit is great for a stick like me-- gave me insta-curve. I bought this one in a size 1, although a 3 may have been ok, too.

Next are the pretty fuchsia satin and tulle top and skirt. These are separates, but because of my lack of pants today (hehe... I wore a dress...), I had to try them together. Meehh... the static cling was too much to handle. Very thin materials on both. And the fit was a bit boxy for me. The color is also not good on my skin tone, but I can't wait to see someone else rock this. I'm sure they can.
Next is the cool lace cardi. I tried it in nude, although I liked the other colors, too. I did not purchase this one because the XS was sold out in the black, and I wasn't sure the nude would be as useful for me. I liked it, though, and it wasn't too scrachy.

Paired underneath it (for these purposes) was the dress many have been waiting for: the nude bow chiffon dress. This color and fit were HORRID for me. Oh lordy. I was so sad. It looked like my grandmother's slip. One word: Busty girls will prolly rock this dress hard. My lack of boobage was a detriment to the prettiness of this dress, as you can see there is a weird elastic waist under the original empire. I didn't get it. Oh well.

I've gotta say, though... I was close to buying the marigold color. So pretty, and because of the color, I feel it didn't look as skankily boudoir (p.s. I like boudoir, but this wasn't working). My leopard dress is next! I haven't yet bought this for a few reasons, but I think I'll be ordering it online. 1) the fit was strange for me. It was very fitted at the chest, so I couldn't size down to the 1, but the hips were big. I don't have hips, so it was a problem. But at $44, I might make a concession. 2) It was just a weeeee bit itchy at the arms. 3) the bows at the back were close to impossible to snap open or closed. I would need some serious assistance dressing. But oh.... I just loooooooove leopard. Sigh. And check out the bows at the back!!! EEEEEPPP!
Lastly, I tried the super-sweet blue dress. This was so vintage looking and cute! I didn't get it because I am limiting myself on Go Line purchases (let's be honest, cute, but not the best quality...). This dress, though very light and thin, had great texture. The mix of the subtle polka dots, lace and tulle were precious. I may change my mind and get it anyway. We'll see.

I did not try the skeleton dress, because frankly, I find it hideous. I also didn't try the other leopard dress (it's more like a tunic-ey silver sequined dress) because I didn't have time. I omitted the other skirts, because most were super thin and not well made. And there wasn't much else to pick from. However, I have to say, the bathing suits looked super cute and decently made. I have a hard time thinking about sand, beaches and sunshine right now, but if you can, I would urge you to try them.

I'll be going back this Sunday to attempt to buy the belts and see if any other stores carry the full line. But I hope this sneek-peek was helpful to some of you, and maybe a little fun. :) Enjoy shopping!

  1. The skeleton dress is just bizarre. I love the blue dress on you & the leopard. I hope I can get my mom to swing by Target for something for me, but if I miss out on this collection I'll live. The lace cardi looked promising, but I dunno. And I abhor buttons that are hard to deal with. Thanks for your opinions on everything! I try to be unbiased too and just 'present,' but if it moves you a certain way, share your feelings :-)

  3. Ohhhh, I freaking LOVE the first dress on you, and the leopard dress! I need the leopard dress- yes, need. I will die without it, convinced.

The blue dress is cute too, but due to my intense hatred of polka-dots and their terrible injustice they inflict on this world, I can't give in and admit that I like it on you. Nope. *sniffs*

  4. I love both the leopard and blue dress on you! It's too hard to pick! Although I'm sure you're right about the quality, they look great from the pictures. I don't know what those sweet baby polka dots ever did to Chloe, but you should definitely give them a loving home, heheh.

  20. I purchased the nude bow chiffon dress and a lace printed dress. I haven't tried it on because well I was wearing a ridiculous amount of layers that day and didn't want to undress. I hope it looks as cute on as it did on the hanger. They also had the chiffon dress in black too.
