OOTD: the Canadian tuxedo.

First, HI 190 followers! I'll have to do something fun (and, uh, shopping-free) when I reach 200. Tell ya friends to follow!  :)

Like I've said in other posts, I'm pretty excited about my new denim jacket from F21. I've always hated jean jackets-- just seem so frumpy and dumpy. Plus, I wear jeans a lot and would never want to be caught in a Canadian Tuxedo. Shudder. So I've mostly stayed away.

When I saw that one of spring 2010's trends was (gulp) denim, and not just on the legs and rear, I cowered in fear. Denim shirts? Skirts? Jackets?! What is this? But, like many other trends, I found a way to fall in love and find it wearable for me. I 80s'ed it up in this post with a fun leopard dress, and I think this take is a little more modern. I lurve it... and I lurve this jacket. And it's acid washed. And weirder than most denim jackets. Which is why I probably like it. The end.

 Jacket: F21 Dean Denim Jacket
Top: Corey Lynn Calter (Anthro) Snowscape Tank
Pants: Rich and Skinny black wash denim
Shoes: BCBG reptile slides
Earrings: F21 lattice leaf earrings

This is about as close as it gets to the Canadian tuxedo, my friends, and I'm definitely teetering on the edge. One wash lighter on the pants and I'd be a goner. Nonetheless, I totally love this look. Opinions on the mixing of denim, hmmm??

  1. I have the same jacket and I do love it. Now i too never mix denims. Something about it gives me the willies. But I do love this jacket with a short dress and wedges.

  2. Justine you pull it off, but Canadian tuxedo's are definitely borderline haha..

LOVE the Snowscape tank. I think that is what actually makes this outfit acceptable. If you just had a plain boring tee or tank it wouldn't work... I love that you are such a risk taker!

  3. I had NO IDEA that the denim jumpsuit is called a Canadian Tuxedo. Hilarious.

  6. i love the way you've worn it...those jeans look black...are they really dark blue? either way, it looks great. it would look really cool with a babydoll dress with a floral print and some combat boots too. so cute!
