Gulp.

Morning, bloggies!

So I know we Catholics are already several days into Lent, but I've decided to make a belated Lenten promise-- no shopping. Two years ago, I did it. I actually went pretty hard core, too-- I banned myself from even browsing online. No mall sauntering, no online boutiques, no NOTHING. It was insanely difficult but I did it. I think it scarred me, because I was bad last year and didn't give anything up. This year, I'm going to try it again, although I will allow myself to browse (for the sake of the blog, and my sanity). Just no buying. Gulp. This shall be interesting.

It's good for several reasons, though-- we shopping fiends always need a little "time off" to re-group our style sense and even pare down a little. It's also a nice break on the magnetic strip on Mrs. Visa. The money I don't spend can be saved up, and maybe I can reward myself with a nice purchase at the end. See? It's not all bad... I think.

Anyway, given this ban, you might be seeing more and more of my "wishlists" given many unfulfilled dreams in the next several weeks. I'll have an OOTD this evening and some fun reveals... I swear, this F21 package that should arrive on my door tonight is it. Promise.  :)

  4. I'm giving up shopping for Lent too! It's been really hard so far... I got some unexpected cashflow in the past week and still have gift cards burning a hole in my pocket so I'm dying to get new duds.

    what's keeping me sane. :)

  6. I think this is a great but super-difficult idea! I definitely think you got it though, especially since you were able to before. Best of luck and definitely share tips of how to keep yourself from spending-would love to read on that!

  7. Good luck! I have never been able to ban my shopping but I feel like I have finally gotten to place where I not longer "binge" shop. Wish lists and calculated planning have really helped me with this. oh and the realization of how much stuff I buy and never where or wasted money started to get to me.

  8. Lol, you know I've been able to do bans before, but it was never as difficult as it was when I had a blog! Writing and, especially, keeping up with other blogs, makes you constantly look at pretty things all the time which are this huge source of temptation! For me it was easier when I could tune it all out completely. Now I can pretty much only manage a low-buy. However, I am sure you have more willpower than I do!! Good luck!
