OOTD: let's try this again.

Hope everyone had a great 4th o' July weekend! In the Fetching Fashions household, we spent many an hour at Ikea, Williams Sonoma and Lowes. And getting gutters installed. I think this officially makes me a grown-up.  :)   Today, though, is a relaxation day. Gotta love Mondays off!

In other non-house-related news, I'm giving the nook another go. I can't decide which side I like better... opinions?

Top & Jacket: F21
Shorts: IRO Mya shorts
Necklace: Anthropologie Ranunculas necklace
Shoes: MICHAEL Michael Kors cage sandals

(and for anyone who's wondering, yes, that's a blue wall... Behr's "Cumulus.")

Super sad story about this outfit-- I ended up wearing this on Saturday to run a whole bunch of errands. It was the first time I actually wore these shorts out (not just at home trying them on and modeling them). By the middle of the day (at a friend's house, mind you) I was casually informed that I had a large rip down my butt crack. Yes... these shorts literally split in two. I'm super upset about it, not just because of the obvious embarrassment realizing they could have been that way for hours (my friend thought it was a fashion trend at first... I might be risky, but split-shorts isn't my thing), but because I totally loved these things. I'm hoping our dear friends at Shopbop will help me out with this... Obviously a poor design and the fabric couldn't hold up through one use! Sigh. A store credit would make me feel better. (hint, hint.)  :)

  1. Hey Justine! Glad you're back. :o) Your nook is so cute! I like your pictures with the chair on the right side by the window. You'll catch the light from the window by the wall. I love the pretty blue color.

  3. I actually like the chair on the left, opposite the window... that's terrible about your shorts :( I was expecting you to say you were told they were see through, not ripped! Would have been hysterical if you played it off as a trend ;)

That's so sad about those shorts, because they are absolutely adorable!!! I do hope you get the store credit and another pair. They're just too cute.

I love your necklace too! Great outfit!

  5. I prefer the chair to the right, leaving you and your ensemble with a bit of bare wall and all that light spilling in from the window.I'm a bit inspired by your Anthro necklace (I've avoided larger necklaces like this because I felt the proportion would be off on me) which seems to fit perfectly.

  8. OMG your poor shorts! :( Sad sad story there, girl. And I always love seeing a Ranunculas necklace out and about, yay! Those cage sandals are super cute too!

As for the nook, I think I prefer the chair to the right, like in the top picture, so it's more of an accent piece in the picture and won't distract from you and your outfits as it would if it was on the left behind you. And, as mentioned above, I think you'll get the best light that way too. ;)

  9. OMG. that's awful about your shorts! They certainly should give you some type of credit for that! That happened to me once-I was wearing a top I ordered from Anthro and was doing some shopping at the mall. A store employee came up to me and quietly told me my blouse was ripped down the entire back! My bra strap was literally showing!!! I had to buy a darn tee at the store to be able to leave there! Needless to say, I promptly brought the top back to anthro and rec'd a full refund. It was clearly a defective product!!! Definately contact Shopbop about your shorts! And they are so cute, too!

I like the layout in the first pic, with the chair on my right, your left.

  10. Aww that's too bad that they ripped, not to mention infuriating! They are so pretty too. I hope Shopbop fixes the problem.

  11. What you need is either a tall plant in the other corner or a a small tall round table with a vase of fresh flowers or something. It looks too empty. Love the little chair with the pillows though. Maybe add a cute throw blanket on top for more dimension and color. Maybe add a painting on the wall. It just looks to plain. Just decorate the space like you would decorate yourself! You have GREAT style! Now just add it to your walls! : )
