OOTD... ?

So I know I've been totally bad lately re: outfit photos. This blog started with me wanting to show my outfits, and while I still do, it's just not a feasible goal anymore. I mean, the occasional outfit will get blogged, but it's just so dern time consuming! For any of you who blog or do outfit pictures, I think you'll agree-- getting the outfit just right, setting up the tripod, getting the camera settings just right, running back and forth 100 times to get 3 decent photos, then editing them and posting them? Whew. With my schedule, I just don't have the motivation. But sometimes an iPhone picture or two will make its way since its so much less high maintenance. Therefore, I have a sort-of-hard-to-see-cuz-lighting-sux photo for ya! Wahoo!

(Dear Apple, please let the iPhone 5 come out sooner than this summer, and please make the camera super-awesome and amaaazzzzing. Thanks.)

Top: Anthropologie Linnea Blouse
Jeans: Level 99 Wide Leg jeans (in khaki here!)
Bracelet: BCBGeneration leather Slang bracelet (so cute, check 'em out here)

No, but really. The reason I'm even posting these horrible pictures is because I heart these jeans. I just bought them at Nordstrom in Dallas this past weekend, and they are the most perfect wide legged, bellbottomed light washed jeans ever. While they're not on the website yet, it seems the same pair in the khaki are. Super comfortable and super adorable. Plus, they're only $99, which is 1/2 the price of most designer denim (I also love my shoes, which you can see here... also pretty comfy!). I may even convert from a Hudson fan to a Level 99 fan (woah).

...and here comes the shameless plug to ENTER MY GIVEAWAY! Woot. :)

OOTD: All anthropologie, all the time.

Every once in a while, I'll find myself grabbing pieces for an outfit and realizing, "Hey. This is all anthropologie stuff." Sometimes I feel a little geeky and will change so I'm not wearing 100% one brand, but sometimes I'll say the heck with it and wear it proudly. Today was the latter.

Top: Pyrus Linnea Blouse (here)
Jacket: Idra Edited Suede Jacket (find on ebay!)
Jeans: Level 99 Lily Straight Leg (LOVE these, here!!)
Necklace: Frozen Globes Necklace (here)
Shoes: Vera Wang flats (the only non-anthro item on me now!)

Re: the blouse. I know a lot of reviewers thought it was way too boxy, and it's true. It's quite boxy. However, I really like my silk blouses to be light, airy and loose, so it's perfect. Plus I'm a layering whoooor, so again, it works. Re: the jeans. These things are like a glorified jegging and are ahhhhmazing! I totally recommend, especially at under $100. They are just as nice, if not nicer, than my expensive designer jeans. Just what I was looking for.

******************************************************************
IN addition... I have another blog sale offering I found whilst rummaging through the closet. It's an Anthropologie Guinevere cardigan, ca. 2007 or so, worn once. Size S. I'm selling it for $55 shipped (or best offer). It's actually gorgeous but a little too big on me. I never seem to reach for it. It's so very anthropologie, too, isn't it?? Any interest??? :)

OOTD: A holiday folly.

It's no secret that Groupon had a fantastic deal last week for $25 for $50 at Nordstrom Rack. "Great!", I thought. "Perfect for holiday shopping!" Ummm... yeah... about that.

I tried, readers. I really tried to find those holiday gifts. But none were to be found that would be good enough for my gift-recipients. I thought all was lost for said gift-certificate, until I spotted this little pretty in the racks. The Nanette Lepore Maddalena jacket seems to be sold out almost everywhere (might be from Fall '09?), and I remember this on Nordie's site a while back. Unfortunately, $500 is out of my budget for a blazer, but when it's on sale for $199 + $50 off? Yes, please. And I'm pleased (and a little shocked) to announce that this is my first ever Nanette purchase. I say shocked because I really don't know why I haven't bought something sooner...

Jacket: Nanette Lepore Maddelena Jacket
Top: Robbi + Nikki silk tank
Jeans: J Brand Lovestory jeans
Belt: Anthropologie Tea Rose belt
Shoes: Go Jane faux suede bow peeps

I took off the grosgrain belt that came with it and opted for something more fun, like this big rosebud belt. It just seemed to work better, and I'm just thinking about getting rid of the belt that came with it. And check out the back of this thing... I'm a bit in love!

Now to finish that holiday shopping...

OOTD: the warm before the cold.

Here in Dallas, weather is... strange. Come October, a chill begins to set in, crispness fills the air. But then, some sort of warm front inevitably comes in... and out, and in and out. Until around January, when the air is just cold, cold, cold. Most people don't think Dallas can get cold. But let me tell you-- it can. Trust me. It's funny to hear the northerners who move here for school or work and tell me, "I had no idea it could get this cold!" Yep. It does.

Anyway, right now is one of those warms before the cold. Before I must wear tights (to my chagrin). So I'm takin' advantage, people! It's skirt-sans-tight time!

Sweater/blazer: Bloomingdale's Aqua cashmere sweater (also very similar here)
Top: Anthro (Corey Lynn Calter) Snowscape tank, last winter
Skirt: F21 bubble hem skirt (similar here)
Shoes: Steve Madden Tristano
Earrings: Francesca's Boutique

OOTD: Vodka tonic.

Man.

We've been having freezer problems since last week. We thought it would be ok! Call service guy, quick fix, okay. But the Best Buy Geek Squad dude came by yesterday (did you know the Geek Squad handles freezer emergencies? Neither did I...) and said we'd have to order parts, and if that didn't work, we'll have to get a new one. And wait for another week until they can get someone to fix this already one week old problem. And allllll that food that's spoiled? Well, we'll give you a few bucks towards the spoilage. Even though your wedding cake is in there and it is now an official carrier of some sort of food poisoning that will wreak havoc in your intestines. Great.

Ahem. So what's a girl to do? Make vodka tonics to deal with the stress that ironically have no ice in them because... wait for it... THERE IS NO ICE IN OUR 52 DEGREE FREEZER.

In other news (aka, non-gastro-intestinal-discomfort news)-- Here's the Perilla dress in all her glory! Yaaaayyyy.... (sorry. Having trouble not being totally annoyed.)

Dress: Anthropologie Perilla dress (scored on sale!)
Tank: Nordstrom (from TBD) lace tank
Shoes: Charles Charles David tassle pumps (so old but so classic!!)
Necklace: Juicy Couture locket charm necklace

p.s., I realize roots are noticeable heinous. Roots will be taken care of this weekend. Meaning: I'm going brown. Stay tuned... especially since this will be a mother-in-law weekend project. Gulp.

The Fall Checklist.

If you can't already tell, I'm starting to warm... errr, cool? to the idea of fall. Its so hard when you start seeing the pretty colors and luxe fabrics the cooler months bring! So, as I do biannually, I find myself creating a loose list of what sorts of things I'll be buying in an effort to nail down some sort of style aesthetic for this half of the year. Here it is so far.

1. Olive green.

I don't care if I end up with a jacket, sweater, pants or top in this color as long as I own it. I have been drooling over the moss and army green shades I've been seeing and know it will be a big color for the fall/winter seasons. This J Crew silk jacket is very, very high on my wishlist right now, though! (Why must it be more than $100... why?!)

2. Blazers.

This is no shocker, people. My love for blazers and structured jackets is nothing new. But this season, since school will be in the picture, I plan on really getting some versatile blazers to mix and match with different tops and dresses. I love the vintage-like print on this one from Topshop! So fun.

3. OTK boots.

I've been talking about these since last year, yes I know. But I really love the look. The problem is the price. I don't want a leg full of pleather (teeters on trashy...), but the leather boots are a little hard to swallow. These Boutique 9's are perfect, but I will have to save my money!

4. Leopard.

Again, this is nothing new. I heart animal prints way more than I should. But I'm thinking I need some leopard booties as the quintessential expression of the fall leopard trend. *Dreams.*

5. Comfortable sweaters.

Duh. I mean, this is on everyone's wishlist, right? But I'm talking luxe, thick sweaters to be layered with and cozied up to. Very much like this cabin sweater by Anthro. Sigh.

6. Et Cetera.

This includes: cargo pants; a trench coat; clogs; lace up/peeptoe boots/booties, and so on. These are more wishlisted than needs, but should be included nonetheless. I'm organized here, people. :)

What's on your must-have list for Fall 2010?

Conclusions to Which I've Come.

...Some good, some not-so-good.

1. Having a house means you're a grownup. There is no way around it. It also apparently means handymen knock on your door Sunday morning without warning to fix the crack in your ceiling and put the varnish on the door. And you'll inevitably be in your PJs still and not fully awake and trying to remember the Spanish that you haven't studied since 4th grade. "Coma estas, Mr. Handyman? Ummm... uhhh, el sol es brillo, no?"

2. Fall is coming, no matter how much I want to pretend it's not. Well, ok. So there are several months left for wearing tees and shorts, but in the world of fashion, there's no escaping it. The only good thing about this is the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. But once that's over, I swear! I'll be hating fall again! Promise!

3. (Although this is seriously making me want to change my mind. But I'm holding tight to my summer! Damnit!)

4. T-minus 18 days until my uber-girly weekend in DC, during which time I will gorge on good food, good shopping, and good cupcakeries. (Wahoo!)

5. This makes me even more sad that the shorts died over the holiday weekend. I miss them! (But, thanks to Meggy for the shout-out!! Totally flattering.)

6. Cheese made of 75% butterfat is the equivalent of heaven on earth. Fo'realz. (you can get it at the grocery store, too!)

EDIT: I also want to draw quick attention over to my sidebar and show you a new addition: Until the end of the month, you can get 10% off your order at eShakti by using code fetchingfashions123 !! :) Also, don't forget, the code for 15% off at Selfish Style should still work, too. (Let me know if it doesn't!)

Happy Monday!

OOTD: The joys of the tailor.

I had my J Brand Lovestory jeans tailored last week because they were waaaay too long. I'm always afraid of high-waters, so I brought some of my tallest shoes with me to get them hemmed. Now I'm sorta wishing I brought some slightly shorter ones, because when I wore them today with my MICHAEL Michael Kors metallic pumps, I was draggin' a bit. That's ok-- I'm sure a few more washes will bring them up a teense, too. Always better to have them too long than too short! (I remember back in the day when it was super-cool to have your jeans dragging on the ground. They'd get all beat up at the bottom and look worn. Maybe that was just my teenage "middle-finger" to the world. Stickin' it to the man. (Errr sumthin.))

Also what went to the tailor with the jeans: my Snowscape Tank (Anthro, Winter '10). I have been meaning to have it tailored for a while now but never got around to it. The jeans were a perfect excuse to bring the blouse along. So glad I did-- it used to be big enough that it would start drooping in the front and looked saggy. Now it sits higher and it's just plain better. Plus, they brought the darts in. You know... because I can't fill out big-girl clothes. Heh. :)

So what's a girl to do with her newly fitted items? Wear them both, at the same time.

(Also, I look tired. Why do I look so tired? I'm not tired. Maybe it's the ponytail. Hmmm.)

Top: Anthropologie Snowscape tank (a lookalike here)
Sweater: F21
Belt: Express
Jeans: J Brand Lovestory in Falcon
Shoes: MMK gold metallic pumps
Earrings: Francesca's Boutique

OOTD: let's try this again.

Hope everyone had a great 4th o' July weekend! In the Fetching Fashions household, we spent many an hour at Ikea, Williams Sonoma and Lowes. And getting gutters installed. I think this officially makes me a grown-up.  :)   Today, though, is a relaxation day. Gotta love Mondays off!

In other non-house-related news, I'm giving the nook another go. I can't decide which side I like better... opinions?

Top & Jacket: F21
Shorts: IRO Mya shorts
Necklace: Anthropologie Ranunculas necklace
Shoes: MICHAEL Michael Kors cage sandals

(and for anyone who's wondering, yes, that's a blue wall... Behr's "Cumulus.")

Super sad story about this outfit-- I ended up wearing this on Saturday to run a whole bunch of errands. It was the first time I actually wore these shorts out (not just at home trying them on and modeling them). By the middle of the day (at a friend's house, mind you) I was casually informed that I had a large rip down my butt crack. Yes... these shorts literally split in two. I'm super upset about it, not just because of the obvious embarrassment realizing they could have been that way for hours (my friend thought it was a fashion trend at first... I might be risky, but split-shorts isn't my thing), but because I totally loved these things. I'm hoping our dear friends at Shopbop will help me out with this... Obviously a poor design and the fabric couldn't hold up through one use! Sigh. A store credit would make me feel better. (hint, hint.)  :)

A letter to Santa Claus.

Dear Mr. Claus

Dear Bringer-of-goodies

Dear Santa:

Hi. This is Justine. I actually haven't believed in you since I was in the third grade and this snotty little blonde girl told me her brother told her you weren't real. When I asked my mom she backtracked a lot, so I knew Miss Snotty McGee was correct. Anyway, point is I need a little faith right now. Because there's all this stuff I want, and the funds are limited. So I hope you're out there.

(Yes, I know it's June. I also know you're probably relaxing before the big season, which begins around October because we capitalists like milking every last cent out of anything that once had meaning, but I thought you might have just a little time for me.)

I'll even make it simple! Just one store! You can send your elves over. Just make sure they bring the sleigh, because what follows is a long list....

1. All three of these jackets. Please ignore that they are basically the same thing, because I love each of them dearly. And yes, it's a need, not a want. Sheesh.

2. This dress. Because it is so me.

3. This sleep-set. Because it is too freekin' cute for words.

4. This necklace. Because it's zebra AND huge flowers. 'Nuff said.

5. These two tanks. Because they're cute, and I like cute things, especially when they have huge flowers or bows on 'em.

6. Last but not least, this adorable embellished sweater. To remind you of your colder whereabouts.

I thank you for your generosity ahead of time.

Sincerely, Justine.

(P.S. All items shown are Anthropologie, obvi. What's on your Anthro wishlist??)

OOTD: I feel like an Anthropologie catalog.

My outfit today is Anthropologie-overload (in a good way). It's actually very, very rare that I do that, but it really worked today. The pattern of the abstract butterfly on the top with the flowers makes me think of spring despite the heat were having. Plus, I like it. And that's all that really matters, no? :)
Top: Anthro's Folded Wings tank
Skirt: Anthro's From Monet skirt
Shoes: Elizabeth and James Mason pumps (here in yellow)
Necklace: "Love" by flavanilla (she's on break now, btw)
Bracelets: F21, won from Maria

Short post today... but have a great Friday, all!
