Track Pants Trend

Despite my frustration with fall arriving in the fashion world right when I'm gearing up for sunshine and barbeques, I couldn't help but notice a new trend for fall this morning and yesterday morning-- the track pant. Both Shopbop and Net-A-Porter are suggesting to wear these previously-gym-bound-babies with heels and a pretty shirt (or even simple jersey knit). Here's my quick take-- the same rules that apply to the easy pant apply to the track pant. In fact, I have a feeling the track pant will be taking over for the easy pant come cooler weather.

Honestly? I find myself liking them (go figure). However, there is a fine line between going to the gym and going on a date, so let's review, shall we?

1. Keep it tailored. Juuuust like the easy pant, there needs to be some structure to this look. A blazer with strong shoulders, a cinched in jacket-- anything with obvious lines and some fitted aspects will do.

(Rag and Bone, Fall '10-- they got it down!)

2. Play off the opposites. To make it fun, pair the casual pants with a dressy top. Lace, velvet, brocade, even fur! (all very cold-weather appropriate) would be a great contrast to the relaxed nature of the pants.

3. Keep it simple. Although I've seen celebrity iterations of the look with lots-o-layers and fun baubles, for the mainstreamer, it's better to just keep it streamlined. Plus, it's never a great idea to overwhelm a new trend-- you run the risk of looking like a bag lady. Or just plain crazy. (Unless that's what your going for, then...)

4. (Net-A-Porter says...) Wear heels! I agree with this in general, because flats or sandals might give off too much of the casual vibe. Then again, I bet some fun gladiators would work, too. It all depends on everything else worn with them.
(Net-A-Porter)
Other tips or tricks: wear them with a cute bag; choose pants with tapered legs; dare to go edgy; buy them in a neutral hue (grey, black or beige).

So, can you see yourself converting your gym wear to your evening wear? Is this more do-able than the easy pant?

OOTD: Not such a "Bazaar" inspiration

I used to be faithful and loyal to only one magazine: InStyle. Of course, I'm still loyal and faithful, but I admit-- I'm now sharing my editorial love with Harper's Bazaar. Despite the fact I can't afford 7/8s of what's featured, no matter-- the inspiration abounds in those pages! Searching through the pages urged me to pare down a little in my ensembles. Although I love going all out-- mixing textures, colors and patterns-- sometimes it feels nice to have it be simple and streamlined. I gravitated towards a black tee, sleek body con skirt (animal print, natch) and a gorgeous statement necklace that brings in the neutral of the heels. Simple, but elegant, I think. (SPOTTED: the ever-elusive ponytail. For some reason, I hate ponytails on me, but it seemed to work today.)

Tee: Old Navy Perfect Fit tee
Skirt: F21 leopard skirt
Necklace: Codename Ivy
Shoes: Jessica Simpson Cedary heel

Also, I'll be posting the Flavanilla giveaway winner tomorrow! Ya'll still have until tonight at midnight to enter, so get to entering. :)

Also also, T-Minus 6 days until I leave for Vegas! Wahoo! I'm in the process of packing, which takes me a while. Involves a process of laying out my favorite items on the bed, pairing them together with other items, photographing them, then accessorizing them. Lots of steps, yep yep.

My oh my...

As many know, Lucite accessories are in for the spring. To be honest, it's not really a trend I really cared to much about. That is, until...

...I spotted this.

Oh dear. I lost my breath a little. This makes me want Lucite, like, NOW. The perfect way to sport this? White tee, tattered denim and sky high heels. Love love love. OMG, and for under $50? Yes yes please.

Ok, enough of my hopeless dreams. But will one of you get it, wear it, then send me a pic please? Thanks. :)

OOTD: Snowscape tank, take 2

It was raining like mad yesterday. I mean, cats and dogs. I just hate rain, and today is supposed to bring more. BUT. I don't care. I'm dressing unseasonably (ugh) spring-like. I mean, I think the sun will come out later today, so I'm really just encouraging it. Or thinking wishfully. Whatevs.

I love my Corey Lynn Calter Snowscape tank (via Anthro) and totally wanted to try it out with some more color. This F21 drapey sweater does just the trick. Nice!

Top: CLC Snowscape Tank (as dubbed by Anthro, but you can still get it here)
Sweater: F21 (this one is cute and kinda similar)
Belt: Express
Jeans: AE Super Skinnies
Bracelet: A.V. Max via Nordstrom forever ago.
Shoes: Linea Paolo Snakeskin T-Strap Sandals

(And, as per usual, I must now obsess over the HORRID lighting and poor photography skillz. And differing settings to try out lighting, none of which were good enough. So SORRY. eeesh.)

In other news, my sister in law will be in town this weekend, which is very exciting! This also means I have Monday off and get to play instead of work. I can't wait for my long weekend to begin soon... just have to get through this day... And I'll be posting more OOTDs soon! Yay for finding some time and having a serious addiction to blogging and my awesome followers. :)

Fun Find: The 2 Bandits

I love finding new things on the internet, and so when I came across this (via DailyCandy), I had to share with my lovies. The 2 Bandits is a company that sells boot bands to spice up your plain-jane bootehs! What a great way to take last season's boots and make 'em exciting again! Or even this season's and just add a little extra oomph. You just slip em on over the boot, pull them up to the desired height and then adjust them so they stay put. Et voila, a fun accessory for your feet. Go check out the site, but for now, here are my picks:

How fah-reekin cute are those, right?!

It's love.

Like I was mentioning in an earlier post, I tend to style-up a lot for my blog. True, I do actually wear most of the outfits I style (even when they're a little iffy), but I generally like to play it up for the audience. However, it's a real gem when one of the pieces you wear is so pretty it needs no play up, needs no extra pizzazzzzz. (insert jazz hands here)

That's how I feel about the Snowscape Tank. No extras needed. Just let it shine, baby. Let it shine.

(Oh and YAY! I found the perfect outdoor spot to take mes photos. Relatively quiet, large space, neutral background, no pet-owners milling around with hounds... just perfect. Even if it may be next to the dumpster. Let's hope the weather cooperates enough to let me keep doing this through the winter.)

Shell: Corey Lynn Calter's Snowscape Tank
Sweater: The Limited oldie
Jeans: AE Super Skinnies
Shoes: NYLA Extravaganza (who knew Target sold brand names?)
Earrings: Francesca's Boutique

OOTD: Boutonniere dress

I know you all know this dress, have seen this dress, and have seen it on every-other fashion blogger... but still. I love it that much. And wearing something so pretty and fun to work just automatically makes your day better! (except for my hair... it was having a bad day. Sad.)

Dress: Anthro Bold Boutonniere Dress
Cardgan: LINE cotton ruffle sweater
Boots: Steve Madden slouchy boots
Necklace: Etsy (thejewelrybar)

As I look at my pictures, I realize how many times I sport a hair tie on my wrist. Do you lovies do that, too? I always forget to take it off, and I've even tried getting the hair ties with baubles on them (Anthropologie has one right now I almost bought), but to no avail. You'll always catch me with one, because with a mane as thick as mine, it's a frustrating day when it's not there. I think I need to make this a fashion statement. Or pretend it's a part of my religion or something. Like those red strings Madonna wears.

All right, I'll stop my blasphemy now. Apologies. :)
