Falling for the trend: the Cargo Pant.

The J Brand Houlihans blew up bigger than Heidi Montag's boobies this spring, and they're back again (the cargos... not the boobs. Those are here for good, I think). I held off for a while, lovies, because I was super worried about what to wear with them. I mean, I have quite a girly aesthetic... cargo pants? Not so much. But with more and more designers releasing their take, I just may have taken the plunge for fall. My only caveat= that they be skinny cargos rather than the loosey-goosey parachute-material type cargos. Here are some of my picks (most of which are under $100, because let's face it-- I ain't paying that much for cargos):

Easy Money Coin cargo jeans
These were by far my favorites that I've tried on so far. Soooo soft and comfortable, plus flattering on the toosh. I did find them to run a little small (I could wear the 28s!), but nonetheless a great option.

Blank has a great reputation for fun, trendy pants. I've yet to try these on, but hey-- Kim Kardashian wears them! The zipper detail is adorable on the front pockets, and I like how the leg zippers are on the inside, rather than the outside, of the leg.

Level 99 cargos
I liked these when I tried them on at Anthropologie, but these seem to run a little large. The 25s were best on me.

Victoria's Secret London Jean cargo
Not sure you can beat the price, and the product image makes them look a lot like the J Brand Houlihans. I haven't seen these in person but they look like they could be a great buy!

INC ankle zip cargo
I love most everything INC does because it's usually a nice price and quality material. These seem a bit more streamlined and a little less fatigue-like to me, which makes me like them more, and may be best for those who are still hesitant about the trend in general (kinda like me!).

Which skinny cargos have you tried? And will you be partaking?

  2. I really the choices you posted. I normally think of cargos as being really loose and boxy, but the skinnies are so much nicer and polished looking. I think those are the only type I'd wear! Otherwise my small frame would drown in them.

  3. Target has a really nice pair for $20 and come in green and black. Great for me as I don't know how many times I'll really be wearing cargos.

  5. Great post! I've found myself oogling skinny cargos lately too- my only problem is that I really (reeeeeeally) want them to come in a short inseam, and all the ones I've found don't.

I'm too lazy to get skinny cargos hemmed. *cries*

  7. I was not thinking about the skinny cargos until a young lady I know started talking about them and raving about the ones at Anthropologie. Oh wait, that was you! Hee hee. I am certainly going to try some of these pairs you are suggesting here. I must own a pair soon.

  8. Dang lady, I was going to write up like, this exact post! I have the Houlihans and the Level 99s and love them for different reasons. Will def link your post later this week when I post an outfit with skinny cargos. Awesome roundup!

  9. I tried on the Houlihans months ago and thought they were cool, but spending that much on a trendy item was not going to happen for me. I also tried on the Anthro's Level 99 and loved them, but never bought them. I went to Nordstrom Rack a few weeks ago and I snatched up a pair in their junior section for $20. That worked way better for me and my wallet. I just wished they had the zippers, but I'm not going to dwell on that small detail.
