OOTD: Thinking warmer thoughts...

I chose to live in Dallas because it's warm, not because it's similar to a meat freezer. OK, so it's not that bad (and I actually didn't choose to live in Dallas for that reason, whatevs), but I am definitely sick of this weather. I can't handle the cold (I think I was always meant to live in the South), so I've been thinking warmer thoughts lately. You know the thoughts. Where bare legs don't only mean the place you'll get frostbite. It may feel like it's in the 20's outside, but in my apartment, it's a balmy 70. (against the will of husband-dearest)--

Dress: LaRok "Call of the Wild" Dress
Jacket: Vision in Viridian Blazer (ModCloth)
Necklace: F21 pretttyyy
Belt: Antho Tea Rose belt
Socks: Nordstrom (Hue?) thigh-highs, rolled down
Shoes: Steve Madden shimmery bow pumps

I'll be playing with Picnik this week on my photos, so stay tuned for lots of OOTD's and some interesting effects. This is a part of my decision to make this blog a little prettier. I have to work with what I got (i.e. not so great camera), but I'm making a concerted effort to get better lighting, better background scenery, and better photo-editing. The prior two goals will be easier achieved when the weather gets better (outdoors shots!) and when I get a tripod. So hang tight, lovies!

A glossies spy, and embarrassing photo of me

Apparently I'm not the only one who spied this month's Marie Claire (HELLOOOO Lanvin dress on Natalie!). That wasn't the only reason I bought the mag. Here's what I spied with my little eye....
Eeeep and Eeeeek!!!

Not that I haven't seen these before. But still. I got a bit excited. Here's the problem: saving my December budget until December 20th. Sure, there's Christmas money, but let's be honest. This collection will be mostly gone by December 21st. Sigh. Guess we'll have to see how I do!!
Also, a self-revealing moment from yesterday's Big 12 Championship game (yay HORNS!!!) :

Friggin freezing, do NOT judge.

Drumroll... my satiny shoe purchase!

So here are the shoes I got yesterday from the Endless 40% off deal... The Badgley Mischka Haworth Sandal! OMG, loooovvveee.

I love overnight shipping-- so gratifying. These shoes fit perfectly, are comfortable, and will add that little flair to any outfit. I will definitely wear these through the seasons, too. Despite being satin, they are rather versatile. And the color is lushious-- steel grey is my favorite neutral, and I love the play between the satin grey and the chiffon grey. As you can see, the chiffon rosettes need a little time to relax out (and I desperately need a pedi prior to wearing these babies). How can you go wrong at the price of $105?! Oh so happy. :)

Also, I, like every other blogger out there, want this dress. KAYTHANKS.

Newsboy style

This is totally a side-note and has nothing to do with my post today, but I'm wondering: do any of you get occular migraines? You know, those annoying things that aren't actually a headache but are related to some weird occipital lobe malfunction and cause bad, blurry vision for like, 20 minutes?! Ugh. So annoying. I've heard they're harmless, but they really impair my functioning! Sorry, boss. I have to go home. Yes, I'm ill. I have a line in my vision... and... yeah, ok, so it's a poor excuse. Sue me for trying!

Anyway, enough about my stupid occipital lobe. I used to think I looked horrendous in hats and stayed away for most of my life. But I found this one last winter and I love it. Today, I feel a little casual, a little cheeky, and mostly a bit "Newsboy" with my outfit. Here's to having fun with fashion! (and the hope for a better way to take pictures soon...)
Turtleneck: Free People lace knit turtleneck
Sweater: Sparrow (Anthro) "Summer-weight" cardigan (now sold as the Cooling Cardigan)
Necklace: The Limited?
Jeans: Rich and Skinny cranberry-colored jeans ("Sleek" style)
Hat: Rubbish (Nordstrom BP) navy cap
Shoes: Nicole (DSW) buckle flats
Wish you could see the jeans better... the color is just gorgeous. I love Rich and Skinny denim... they fit me well, seeing as though most jeans expect women to have curves or something (I DON'T). Sigh. Santa, bring me a tripod. Oh, and one of those digital remotes... wait, there are no digital remotes for my camera? Going to have to settle for what we've got. :)

I am DROOLING over today's section, which includes many a pick from L.A.M.B., Badgley Mischka, and Kate Spade (among many others) for 40% off. I didn't list prices, but you can search the site, and believe me, what great discounts! Here are my picks (NOTE: One of them will be on my doorstep TOMORROW! can you guess which?)

Kate Spade Glamour Pump

Pura Lopez R531 in red

Kate Spade Gratis Pump

Kate Spade Heart Pump

Badgley Mischka Haworth Pump

Ted Baker Elki Pump

Betsey Johnson Kazan Sandal

Hurry-- it ends tomorrow. With another sale of some sort. But it makes me wonder what could be better than this!?

Pigs must be flying...

...because I woke up to snow. In Dallas. This morning.

My first thought? Oh, how beautiful! So pretty... like the days I spent in the north/midwest. Then I hit the road to work.

Oh yeah. Right. I hate this. Nevermind...

It wouldn't be so bad if Dallasite's didn't drive .5 MPH on the roads because GOD FORBID there are flurries. Seriously people. I already have enough road rage, must you enrage it more?

This was about all my iPhone would capture:

Can you see it? No? Yeah whatever.

Despite the 20-someodd degree wind chill, I opted for a skirt. I've gotten a lot more use out of my J Crew Colorblock cardi than I ever imagined I would, but I'm quite pleased about it. Here's an OOTD:

Cardigan: J Crew colorblock cardi (sold out, sad)
Top: BCBG pink cashmere tee
Skirt: F21 tulle ribbon skirt (here, but reminded me of a cheaper version of this!)
Socks: Sock Dreams knee-high "leg warmers" (love)
Shoes: BCBGirls High Heeled Oxfords

...and please note the flakes of snow on my knee-highs (but do NOT note the whiteness of my leg). Thanks.

OOTD: Feeling Catty

(Please excuse nail polish issues... it's all chipped and I'm lazy and whaaateeeeever.)

I own so much animal print but rarely wear it. It's quite a predicament. Sometimes I think I like to just look at it. Take the tunic dress below.... I've worn it maybe one or two times, but I just love it. I won't get rid of it because it's pretty, but I never actually put it on. So enough's enough today. I decided to bring 'er out.

Blazer: Viridian Blazer by ModCloth
Dress: F21 Leopard print tunic
It's quite a simple outfit for today, lovies, but it satisfied my cat-like instincts. Which is good. Because the hubs is allergic to the real thing.
